Are E-Books The Next Frontier for Ads?

With sales of e-books growing rapidly, alongside burgeoning technology, marketers are looking at how they can capitalize.  This report in the The Wall Street Journal is a great summary of some of the testing that is currently taking place.


Frontier Research, Inc. provides some interesting statistics on e-book sales.

  • 7% of U.S. adults who go online also read e-books.
  • People with e-book readers read as many as 40% of their books in electronic form.
  • 35% of U.S. e-book readers use their laptops to read books, while 32% read on a Kindle.
  • E-book sales in the U.S. are expected to nearly triple by 2015 (est. $1 billion in 2010).
